Re:series
Jan/070
Just put the finishing touches on the second message in our "Re:series." The series is based on the truth of Jesus' resurrection from the dead, using 1 Corinthians 15 as our main text.
The study and prep for this series has been a challenge. 1 Corinthians is not the easiest of books to fully understand. Sometimes Paul's writings can be downright complicated. But as I've dug into 1 Corinthians 15 (sometimes referred to as "The Resurrection Chapter"), I've been awed by how powerful and significant the resurrection is in our lives. Jesus allowed himself to be killed, but it was only a temporary submission. The empty tomb stands forever as a permanent reminder of just how powerful our God really is. Even death could not hold him!
I've talked and prayed with a lot of folks recently who are facing down some pretty big issues in their lives. I hope I have comforted them with the fact that, although their issues are big, their God is bigger! The resurrection proves it.
Root Word

This just makes me smile. In honor of the new Congress which takes control today in Washington, here's a fun fact for you. The word "senator" comes from the same Latin root as the word "senile."
Draw your own conclusions.
The Team's Legacy

My friend, Andy, shared this with me. Thought I'd share it with all of you after the Bengals' season ended with a whimper on Sunday.

Instead of a playoff run, this will be the sad legacy of the '06 Bengals. Sigh…
Happy New Year
Jan/070
1/1/07. Doesn't quite sound right yet, does it? For me, 2006 went by in a flash. It was a year that brought a ton of signficant life changes for my family. In our move from Indiana to Ohio, we started in a new ministry, bought a new house, my wife started a new job, and we've made lots of new friends.
When I look back at 2006, I also see the incredible progress we've made in our church. New ministries, new worship services, new Christians, new leadership, new perspective, new vision and purpose.
2006 was really a happy "new" year for us. I pray the same for all of us in '07.
