How?

Just read this stat in an Enquirer article. Can you explain to me how a team (aka, the Reds) can lead the world in home runs and still own the very worst record in Major League Baseball?

I will take a stab at this one.
Fundamentals. If John Doe as a minister comes into the church and preaches a home run sermon every Sunday. One that knocks the socks off of everybody listening and wows the congregation, that will convince some people to turn to Jesus. No doubt about it. Even if he doesn't do the other things he is supposed to do.
But, you as a minister who prays over his flock, ministers to them on a consistent, daily basis shows them you truly love them as Jesus has commanded, you will influence many more people. Even if you don't preach those knockout sermons.
Baseball… and all of life is the same. The consistent application of fundamentals goes further than the occasional home run, even if you hit the home run more than others do.
There's my attempt at a profound analogy :)

And profound it was!
