Contentment
Jul/072
Been struggling with contentment lately. I don't know what has brought it on, but it seems that I'm noticing what everybody else has and wondering why I don't have the same things. This is a direct contradiction to what God has said in the Bible.
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5, NIV)
In other words, be content where you are and with what you have because God is with you. His presence is enough.
And then this…
But godliness with contentment is great gain. (1 Timothy 6:6, NIV)
Chasing after God while being content with your current situation is the goal. I've fallen short of that goal lately. I don't know why. It's incredibly stupid. I'm crazy blessed with everything I have in my life. And yet, like a total moron I seem to focus only on what I don't have.
I've been feeling seriously convicted of this sin over the last few days. I can't keep living like such an ingrate when God has just poured out blessing after blessing on an undeserving goofball like me.

I think it is great that you can see the problem. Too many of us think its everybody else. Don't worry Mike. With God and Nicki by your side, both of them will help you get through this problem. I pray we can all realize we all struggle with this. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!!
Remember acknowledging the problem is half the battle!

Yeah Mike,
I struggle with being content all the time. I've been doing really well, then the last couple of days have been a struggle. I think sometimes, why does God give things to people who don't appreciate it? But then I'm reminded that I have so many blessings that I can't count them all. I'm very blessed to have such a great church family, great christian friends, and God gave me the man of my dreams. But I'm always wanting more at times, not material things but acceptance, the dream job, and the feeling of being needed. And it's a real struggle for me at times. So I understand.. and I will pray for you.
