Pappadeaux – The Food

The third in a series of posts reflecting on our dining experience at Pappadeaux.

We've talked about the welcome, the atmosphere, and the customers. Now let's talk about why we visited Pappadeaux in the first place…the food.

The food was outstanding. They don't mess around with their seafood fare…they flat bring it! Nicki dined on crustacean, while I went the reptile/amphibian route. (Nicki had crab legs. I had fried alligator and frog legs.) Everything was superb.

I know some people probably think my meal sounds disgusting, but it was awesome! Frog legs are one of my favorite foods in the world…and Pappadeaux has the best frog legs I've ever eaten. Pan-seared with just the right amount of Cajun seasoning…yummo! (To quote Rachael Ray)

And I've already talked about the awesome (and free!) crème brûlée that we had for dessert. It was a fantastic epicurean experience, from start to finish.

There's a pretty easy parallel to the church here. You can have the friendliest, warmest, most welcoming church on the planet…but what happens once the service starts? What happens when the "food" is actually served? That's the reason a guest came to your church. They came to be a part of your worship experience.

If we don't serve up something that is excellent, nothing else will matter. If the worship is lifeless, if the message is long and boring, if people don't encounter God in a powerful way…they won't come back.

I enjoyed taking in the sights and sounds of Pappadeaux, but if the food wasn't good, I would never go back. Is your church serving up something that makes people want to come back for seconds?
