Still one of the funniest lines ever in a TV sitcom.

This past Sunday night, I was one whipped puppy. L-O-N-G day. So I hit my recliner, and to my delight, I ran across a rerun of Newhart. newhart.jpgI hadn't seen the show in at least a decade. Probably longer, since the show ended in 1990.

I have an eclectic sense of humor. Some would see it as odd or lame. I choose to view it as refined.

Newhart is slow moving and simple. The star, Bob Newhart, is drier than your grandma's meatloaf.

And the show it is flat out funny.

For our next vacation, I think I'll book a room at the Stratford Inn. (If that doesn't make sense to you, then you haven't seen enough Newhart.)

Me and Chris liked that show growing up. What channel did you find that on? We would love to see it again.

Ok, I've got to do something about this. Seems like anyone younger than me has never even heard of this classic show. Gotta figure out how to do some Newhart education.

Ok. I guess I have to chime in here since everyone else is.

I'm younger than you, and YES, I have heard of Newhart.

I've even watched it before – GASP!

    Guess I'm weird.

No he is weird! But that's alright, we like him anyway. Newhart, while fun, is an old man show!!!

I would have never dreamed that a post about Newhart would set the record for comments on my blog, but I think we're getting close.

As for the "old man show" comment, all I have to say is this…funny is timeless!

Newhart was a wonderful show and still can be seen every Monday night with two showings on the American Life Television Network. That would be channel 141 on Time Warner in Cincinnati. American Life Television is family oriented and has many classic shows.
Last week Larry,Daryl, and Daryl purchased the Minuteman Cafe. It was hillarious!

I know I am in the geezer crowd but I loved watching the Newhart show before there were even any reruns of it. And yes, I'm still alive. You can get the first season at the Amelia library but it is not as good as they had some guy that wasn't as good and Stephanie and Michael weren't on yet. But Larry and the Darryls did show up to save the day.
If you want to really get into Newhart, there is the earlier show where he is a shrink too. I saw those before there were reruns too. Well, gotta get back to building that ark.

Love Love Love this show!!!! I'm 30 and I am sooo into this show! My hubby and I just recently found DVD's of all the seasons and are having a great time watching them. We love dry humor like "the Office"….and really love it with the 80's spin! Great show!
