What a Day!
Jul/080
I'm still struggling to wrap my mind around everything that happened at ACC yesterday!
I had the privilege of baptizing my buddy, J.W. Cassell. I've already pointed out how many people were praying for this. Talk about a mountaintop moment!
Jay and Romola Henry were in the house yesterday. ACC has supported their work, Mid-India Christian Mission, for decades. Jay preached in both services, and he brought the heat! As a preacher, I stand in awe of guys like Jay. When he preaches in the U.S., he has to communicate to a foreign culture in a language that is not his own. And he makes it look easy!
Most of all, I am awestruck by the commitment of the Henrys despite the constant threat of persecution. I left church today thinking how easy we have it in the U.S. We worship freely and without fear. Believers in countries like India are constantly looking over their shoulder, wondering if today is the day when they'll be arrested (or worse) because of their faith.
Jay and Romola face an uncertain future when they return to their home country. And yet, they are returning full of resolve and determination…completely sold out to taking the gospel to the people of India.
It really begs a question…if people like the Henrys are willing to live out their mission despite this constant threat, what is stopping us?
