Brock was released from the hospital this afternoon. We're back home now. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the prayers, calls, visits, and words of encouragement from all our friends.

Requesting Your Prayers

Last night was a very, very, very, very bad night. Actually, I can't include enough "verys" to adequately describe it.

We rushed our one-year-old son, Brock, to the Children's Hospital ER last night. From out of nowhere, he began vomiting up blood. He went from being absolutely fine to being extremely sick in the blink of an eye. He was vomiting blood every five minutes or so. It was really scary.

After a very long night in the ER, we were moved to a regular room this morning. We'll be spending the night at Children's Hospital again tonight.

The good news is that all the serious problems (those requiring surgery) have essentially been ruled out. We still don't know why this happened, but the doctor told us that Brock is not "scary sick." That was reassuring. Now we just have to wait on more test results and follow-up visits to determine the exact problem.

I covet your prayers for Brock and for my entire family. There were a few moments last night that scared me to death. But God watched over our little guy. Please pray that he will continue to do so.

I won't have an internet connection again until we return home, but I wanted to post this while I had the chance.

Nine Exciting Things in '09

2009 is going to be an amazing year at ACC! I'm not just blowing smoke. I mean it. God is going to knock our socks off this year.

Here is a small sample of things I'm excited about in '09…

  • The Unleash Conference. Our leadership team will be attending this conference in March. Brian and I attended last year and it blew our minds. This one-day conference was better than many week-long conferences I've attended. Can't wait to head to South Carolina and hang out with Perry & the NewSpring crew again!
  • The Q&A series. This is a sermon series that is completely devoted to answering your questions. We'll begin collecting questions soon and then we'll spend four weeks answering as many of the questions as we can.
  • Easter Sunday. We're starting an incredible new series on Easter Sunday called Identity Theft. We're going to go BIG this Easter. Trust me.
  • The person I haven't met yet. Every Sunday, people walk in our doors for the very first time. And I'm excited about seeing them experience Jesus through the ministry of ACC. That never gets old!
  • The growth that will take place in your life. If you are part of ACC in 2009, you will grow spiritually (if you want to. No one can make you grow.). There are opportunities for growth and discipleship all over the place in 2009.
  • VBS. Actually, "Vacation Bible School" is not a good name for what is coming this summer. I can't let too much out of the bag yet, but let me say this…it is going to be VERY different…and VERY cool. I can't wait!
  • Seeing our ministry to teens continue to change and grow. Nexus takes flight again this month. I've seen some of the plans for Nexus this year. Students, you've gotta be there!
  • Christmas. Yes, I said Christmas. I know we just finished the Christmas season. You're probably sick of holly and tinsel at the moment. But I'm telling you now that Christmas '09 at ACC is going to be off the chart! We've already started working on it! No, I'm not kidding. It's gonna be awesome!

  • The unknown. As good as we are at planning and preparing, God always has surprises in store for us. That's why following him is such an adventure. You can't predict what he will do. I'm convinced that we don't even know the best things that are coming our way in 2009.
  • 2009 is going to rock! Are you ready ACC?
