I admit that there is no point to this post except to make you say, "Wow."
I hardly ever watch Letterman, but I kept reading about the bizarre interview with Joaquin Phoenix last night. So I found the video.
Bizarre indeed.
Best line from Letterman: "Joaquin, I'm sorry you couldn't be here tonight."

Here's my thought. I saw the whole segment, I feel bad for the guy. I'm a fan of Joaquin and I remember him doing and interview along with John Travolta after Ladder 49 came out. John seemed to carry him through that interview knowing the kid was petrified in those situations. He couldn't have been more hidden, being behind the beard and shades, unless he was tucked away at home! Personally, I like Dave, but I thought he was just feeding off the audience and making it more difficult for Joaquin. Who knows, maybe it was a joke, but I felt bad for Joaquin. For the record, I have no interest in hearing him perform hip-hop music!
