Are You Preaching the Beatles?

No.

That's the simple answer to the question.

Here is the longer answer

Some people have been very curious about our current sermon series at ACC.  How do the Beatles tie in?  Are we sacrificing the preaching of the Word to accomodate pop culture?

Absolutely not. And we never will.

We are simply using the Beatles as a connecting point with people to help them better grasp the gospel.  That's exactly what Paul did in Athens when he used the idols in that culture as a launch point to preach the gospel (Acts 17:22-23).

He also quoted from secular poets and prophets in his letters (Titus 1:12-13, for example).  Recording artists didn't exist in his time period, but Paul did use familiar cultural icons to connect people with the gospel.

That's all we're doing in this series.  Nothing more.

We will never sacrifice the preaching of the Word.  We will never sell out the gospel.

But God has called us to do whatever it takes to help people hear the Word and respond to the gospel.  That's what this series is all about.
