Valentine's Day Is Coming

We are less than a week away from Valentine's Day. I thought I would post this now in case there is a fella somewhere who needs a little advanced warning.

Guys, before you roll your eyes and write me off, let me tell you that I've already heard all the excuses.

"It's just a Hallmark holiday."

"My wife told me that she doesn't want me to do anything for Valentine's Day."

"Valentine's Day is just for dating couples. When you're married, it's not important anymore."

"I don't need a day on the calendar to show her that I care."

(If you have an excuse that I haven't listed, please insert it here.)

To be bluntly honest…these excuses are lame.

Very lame.

Exceedingly lame.

Overflowing with lameness.

We need to act like real men. And real men honor Valentine's Day. Not because we're into hearts and Cupid and flowers…but because of the women in our lives who honor us by their very presence.

If you have a girlfriend or fiancée, then make Valentine's Day a big deal. Set a precedent.

If you have a wife, then make Valentine's Day a HUGE deal. Of course you are called to love and honor your wife everyday…but don't miss an easy opportunity like this to up your game even more.

And if you are the daddy of a daughter, then make it a special day for her. You become the standard by which she will judge the guys who want to date her later in life.

I don't care if the lady in your life tells you to forget about Valentine's Day. You need to lovingly ignore her request and make it an extra special day. That means putting in the time and effort to plan it out. It doesn't mean combing through the leftover cards at Wal-Mart on your way home from work on February 14.

Show her that she is special by making this day extra special.
